India Trade Agreement context

## Europe-India Trade in Goods (2024 Snapshot)

A quick scale check for sourcing teams. These numbers help frame why tariff coverage, rules of origin,
and customs facilitation matter for textiles and apparel programmes.

Trade in Goods
2024
€120billion
Bilateral trade in goods between Europe and India.

Europe Imports
2024
€71billion
European goods imports from India.

For sourcing managers, this is not only a policy update. At this trade scale, changes can influence landed cost
planning, repeat order programmes, and long-term supplier strategy.

## What European Buyers Should Lock Before Final Costing
Duty reduction helps, but real savings come only when origin, testing, and documentation are clean.

### HS Code & Tariff Line Match

Confirm the exact product category before costing and booking.

### Rules of Origin

Fabric + processing flow must align for preference eligibility.

### Lab Testing Readiness

Performance specs should match EU compliance requirements.

### Documentation Flow

Export docs must be aligned to claim duty preference smoothly.

Risk control for EU buyers

## Risk Control Before You Lock a PO

Tariff benefits help only when classification, origin flow, testing, and documentation are aligned.
This is the checklist we use to reduce surprises during sampling and bulk.

HS

### HS Code and product classification

We confirm garment type, fabric type, and finishing route to avoid wrong tariff line mapping and last-minute duty issues.

- Garment category and fibre content
- Construction and finishing checks
- Tariff line mapping for the programme

ROO

### Rules of origin and eligibility flow

We review the sourcing and processing sequence so the programme stays eligible for preference claims where applicable.

- Fabric and process route validation
- Supplier and mill documentation readiness
- Origin flow alignment to buyer needs

LAB

### Testing and compliance readiness

Testing changes timelines and cost. We align requirements early so the bulk plan stays stable.

- Buyer test plan and performance targets
- Trim and print compliance checks
- Pre-production risk flags

DOC

### Documentation flow for smooth clearance

We keep invoice, packing list, and origin-related documents consistent so customs clearance is smoother.

- Commercial documentation alignment
- Origin-related declarations where needed
- Shipment-ready checklist before dispatch

### What you get from this

Fewer last-minute cost changes
Cleaner sampling to bulk transition
Better timeline predictability
Documentation clarity for EU imports

### Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions about EU duty impact, documentation flow, and risk control for apparel sourcing from India? Here are clear answers for buyers and sourcing teams.

Does 0% duty apply to all textiles and apparel products?

Not always. Duty benefits depend on the product category, HS code classification, and the final agreement coverage. Some categories may get immediate reductions, while others may follow phased reductions over time.

What information do you need from us to check duty eligibility?

We usually need your product type, fabric composition, GSM, and basic construction details (for example jersey, pique, french terry). If you share your tech pack and target quantity plan, we can confirm the most suitable execution route and documentation flow.

What are “Rules of Origin” and why does it matter for EU buyers?

Rules of Origin define whether a product qualifies for preferential duty benefits. Even if manufacturing happens in India, the fabric sourcing and processing flow must match origin eligibility requirements to claim the duty benefit smoothly.

Can you support sampling and bulk production under the same programme?

Yes. We coordinate sampling approvals first, then follow a structured bulk production workflow. Our goal is to avoid fabric mismatch, shade variation issues, and last-minute timeline delays during the transition from sampling to bulk.

Do you support export documentation for EU shipments?

Yes. We support export-ready documentation flow including invoice, packing list, and shipment coordination documents based on your programme needs. This helps reduce clearance delays and keeps buyer-side documentation smoother.

What are common risks EU buyers face during sampling and how do you control them?

The most common risks are HS code mismatch, unexpected testing requirements, origin documentation gaps, and changes in costing due to finishing and compliance requirements. We reduce this by aligning classification, testing, and documentation early before locking bulk production.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ) for EU programmes?

MOQ depends on fabric type, colour count, and style range. In most knitted apparel programmes, MOQ starts from 300 pcs per colour, but final MOQ is confirmed after reviewing your tech pack and fabric plan.

How fast can we start sampling once we share the tech pack?

Once the tech pack, branding details, and fabric requirements are confirmed, sampling can start based on material availability and complexity. We will share a realistic sampling timeline after feasibility review.

## How We Support Europe-Ready Apparel Programmes

### Repeat Order Stability

Once your base program is locked, reorders become faster, cleaner, and easier to scale.

## Our Production Workflow

### Tech Pack + Requirement

We review GSM, sizing, prints, trims and packaging needs to align expectations. This ensures clarity before sampling begins and builds a strong base for repeatable bulk production quality.

### Fabric Knitting / Selection

Fabric is knitted or sourced by GSM and yarn grade using compact cotton. Controlled knitting ensures smoother texture, lasting durability, and consistent surface quality for premium T-shirts.

### Lab Dip & Dyeing

Lab dips are created and approved before bulk dyeing begins.
Shade, pH and temperature are controlled to maintain colour stability
and even tone throughout the full dye batch.

### Fabric Finishing

Dye-processed fabric undergoes compacting, heat-setting and enzyme-softening. This reduces shrinkage, improves fall and enhances handfeel, preparing material for seamless garment construction.

### Fastness + Shrinkage Tests

Fabric is tested for wash fastness, rubbing resistance and shrinkage levels. Approved lots move forward to ensure colour stability, soft feel and long-term garment durability.

### Fabric Relaxation & Inspection

Fabric is relaxed to release tension and achieve GSM balance. Shade, texture and surface uniformity are checked carefully before moving into layering and cutting.

### Layering & Fabric Cutting

Fabric is spread, aligned and CAD-pattern marked for optimal yield.
Panels, ribs and reinforcements are precision-cut to maintain consistent fit accuracy in stitching.

### Printing & Embellishments

Screen, puff, DTF or embroidery is applied based on artwork. This stage establishes brand identity, improves aesthetic appeal and adds premium retail presentation.

### Construction & Stitching

Panels move into assembly with controlled SPI, overlock and coverseam flow. Shoulder taping and rib fixation strengthen structure and maintain fit after repeated washing.

### Branding & Accessories

Neck labels, woven tags, wash-care labels and hang tags are attached according to brand guidelines. This completes private-label identity and elevates retail presentation.

### Final QC & Measurements

Neck labels, woven tags, care labels and hang tags are attached according to brand guidelines. This completes identity, elevates retail presentation and prepares the garment for rollout.

### Packing & Export

T-shirts are steam-pressed, folded, polybagged and carton-packed with size sorting. Export paperwork, barcoding and carton marking are completed for safe global dispatch and smooth logistics clearance.
